Yesterday, Bratislava in Slovakia.
Today . . . . . . . Budapest in Hungary!! Tomorrow.....?
We caught the train at 8:25 for a leisurely 3 hour trip across another border - not that you'd really know. We stopped at a station, then a different man came past and gave our tickets a second inspection.
At the Budapest station we got tickets for the hop on/off bus, and went across the river
to the Buda side, where the big castle and lookout are.
We took photos, and by then it was lunchtime. After that, we went to the Pest side to more closely check out their wonderful parliament house, (which rivals Westminster)
then waited for the on/off bus which didn't come. So we walked through the city, found a metro station, learned how to buy two tickets, read the signs and caught a train to the long-distance bus station (like Hammersmith) and came back to Vienna, having completed a visit to a national capital city in 5.5 hours.
Phew!!
