Saturday 19 July Paris

Our first port of call today was the Eiffel Tower.

We weren't as early as we should have been, so had to wait in line.

We were told to climb the stairs to the 2nd level, then catch the lift - that way would be quicker and cheaper. The 1st level, at 90 metres, was quite high enough for David (not keen on heights), so he stayed behind, and I went right to the top.
We bought crepes for lunch, and walked to the Arc de Triomphe.

I waited in the queue for tickets, but then found I didn't have quite enough cash, so thought it must be his turn to go it alone. While he climbed up,

I found the bank machine.
Then we caught a train to Montmatre, and climbed up to Sacre Coeur basilica.

After that it was a walk to the main train station for not much help with our plans for the next few days, and a train home.
We both had a nanna nap, then went out for tea, and came home the long way beside our canal.
